Octyl Anddecyl Glycerate
General Description
Octyl and Decyl Glycerate (ODO) is a clear, plant‑derived ester blend prepared from caprylic/capric (C8/C10) fatty acids and glycerin obtained via hydrolysis/purification of coconut oil and palm kernel oil. It is a low‑viscosity, colorless, odorless liquid with excellent oxidative stability, good solvency for flavors and lipophilic actives, rapid metabolism (suitable for food/nutrition uses), and pleasant non‑greasy sensory in topical formulations. Typical uses include food applications (emulsifier/softener in confectionery, dairy flavors, low‑calorie lipid systems), fragrance and flavor carrier, emulsion stabilizer, wetting agent and diluent in personal‑care and cosmetic systems. It offers good compatibility with other esters and oils and can be used at low concentrations (commonly 1–5% in many applications) to improve spreadability, solubility and product texture.
